Steve is the beginner runner, but he is getting so much better. We make a lot of unexpected squirrel and bunny rabbit sprints, which keep me on my toes while running. Steve has epilepsy, and there was a time when we didn’t know if he was going to pull through some of them. He still occasionally has breakthrough seizures, and with some excellent veterinarian assistance we are learning to control them with medication reasonably well.

We try not to overdo it with a ton of mileage, usually keeping them under a few miles at a time. We took him in as a rescue from a local Humane Society. We are not sure of his breed, so we call him the “good-est boy,” although he can be very high-maintenance and extremely mischievous, he has won all of our hearts. When he is not running with me, he is pretty much glued to my wife or living his best life his toy-filled backyard.
