Run And Music Beyond Language Barriers

Music Not In English | Global Playlist for Endurance Athletes Run Tri Bike Everyday Athlete

There’s something amazing that happens when wes log into a LIVE show expecting a handful of Latin music recommendations… and instead end up with a global playlist.

That’s not an exaggeration. That’s a typical Monday night on What’s In Your Earbuds?

Joe and I set the theme: songs that aren’t in English. Simple, right? I figured we’d get some Bad Bunny, maybe a little reggaeton, call it a night.

Instead? Russian rap. Polish anthems. Korean hip-hop. French Canadian bangers. Latin classics. Industrial metal. My brain went all over the place and our audience made sure it wasn’t parked for too long.

Music Is Memory on the Move

We started heavy. The loss of Willie Colón hit differently. From there we talked about Prince. Michael Jackson. Legends in the music world but most certainly off-topic on the non-English music playlist.

Welcome to What’s In Your Earbuds? where we think there is a track but reality is…..there is not.

You Don’t Need the Words

The LIVE audience did what they always do for us and that is show up to turn a podcast into a close-knit community.

Monique. Julia. Heather. Santino. Krissy. Tara from Canada. They dropped songs from everywhere. We went from Daddy Yankee to Sepultura to Rammstein in about 90 seconds. Those songs ballooned the Everyday Athlete Podcast Network playlist for 2026, past 60 hours. It’s still growing and is certain to crush our goal of 75 hours before March is over.

And then Santino became a late-night legend in striped pajamas yelling “The 7th Element.” Don’t ask. Just know we may have created the greatest fictional runner alter ego of 2026.

How do we describe the show: well, it is a show were we laugh, connect, build and talk about music. Not always in that order.

Rhythm Is Universal in Endurance Sports

Music without borders reminds us something important: our community is bigger than our city, language and algorithm.

We’re people who run. Not runners who happen to be people.

And when the miles get long, sometimes the song you don’t understand is the one that carries you home.
