Kiawah Island Marathon Race Review – Maria Papalia-Meier

Where: South Carolina
When: December 1, 2022
Race length: Marathon
Quick Tips:
• Plan to not check a bag at bag check
• Plan ahead for how to get to the start. Shuttles took awhile even though we were in line early

The best thing(s) about the race:
• Great weather for a marathon!
• Nice flat course (we met a number of individuals there who use this race to qualify for Boston)
• Friendly staff
What was less than ideal: Transportation to the race was lacking. Long lines once you got to the race to check in bags etc.
What I didn't expect: The WiFi was really bad so I was unable to play my podcast when I ran. it wasn't until we were 1/2 way that my friend got her music working,
Race organization: Other than the transportation piece and the bag check in process it seemed very organized
Fuel and aid stations: Very good
Additional info: This was a great race overall and we will be doing it again next year :)
Overall grade: 3 stars
