Awarded the 2019 Road Runners Club of America Half Marathon State Championship and the 2020 Marathon State Championship, the Whitefish Marathon is is one of the fastest growing running events in Montana. 2020 was cancelled due to COVID-19 so we are resubmitting our bid to host the 2021 RRCA Marathon State Championship. Adding to the excitement of the Opening Ceremonies, all race distances (marathon, half marathon and 5K) will start at 8:00 AM in Depot Park. The 5K course splits from the marathon and half just after mile one. The marathon and half run the first 13 miles together and split at mile 13 providing a larger runner crowd for the marathoners.

The city of Whitefish was chosen as one of the top-50 small towns to visit by TripAdvisor. Located just outside Glacier National Park, all three distances get a view of the beautiful mountains in the distance. The courses have been strategically developed to start and finish through the same finish line in Depot Park. Over 30+ states and four countries were represented in 2019 showing the event has been vacation marathon.
