HELP US GET ONE STEP CLOSER TO A WORLD WITHOUT BLOOD CANCER!

A little about The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Team in Training and the hosts of the event:

LLS uses at least 74% of all money raised, for cancer research and patient care.  TNT is the world’s largest endurance sports training program.  Since being founded in 1988, TNT has helped over 600,000 people cross the finish line of marathons, half marathons, triathlons, and 100 mile bike races.  All of those people have raised over $1.4 billion to support blood cancer research.  TNT members are asked to raise funds to help support LLS; in exchange, the members receive personalized trianing programs, fundraising mentors, support from teammates, event fees paid, and lodging for some events.

Theresa Addison started raising funds for LLS, through TNT, in 2011 after losing her uncle in 2010 to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Mantle Cell. During his short aggressive battle, LLS provided him with patient aid and support, so raising money for LLS was Theresa’s way of giving back on her uncle’s behalf.

Theresa introduced Kendra Miller to TNT in 2013. Kendra had an aunt that passed away from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) a few years prior and thought raising money for LLS would be a great way to honor her. Just a quick year later in June of 2014, Kendra’s mom was diagnosed with AML. It was devastating as her mom was already a 2x breast cancer survivor. Kendra’s mom is now an AML survivor, because of the advancements of treatment from LLS research.

Up until this point, we only encouraged each other on our own fundraising for LLS. We started talking about making a bigger difference. We then decided to team up and not only raise more funds for LLS, but also raise community awareness for LLS and family fitness! That is how Relentless 5k/10k started!

Relentless 5k/10k has raised over $31,000 in 4 short years for LLS to stay in our local chapter!!

There are thousands of participants in TNT events each year with similar stories of friends and family members affected with blood cancer.
