One Year of Real Endurance | Fireside Chat – Jason Bahamundi

Everyday Athlete Podcast Network: A Year in Review Run Tri Bike

When I started Run Tri Bike, I believed endurance sports are about more than just podiums. My thought was that they’re about the everyday athlete who laces up, shows up, and keeps moving forward. The Everyday Athlete Podcast Network (EAPN) was born from that same mindset. One year later, EAPN has become a trusted voice for those of us who train hard, chase goals, and want to have fun while keeping it all in perspective.

In this Fireside Chat episode, I reflect on the milestones that got EAPN here and what lies ahead. With 300+ followers, 17,000 downloads across Apple and Spotify, and 27,000 YouTube views in just the first half of 2025, it’s clear this platform is resonating with endurance athletes who value authenticity and connection. Even when my imposter syndrome tells me that it is not enough…I am being proven wrong.

Partnerships That Reflect Purpose

EAPN isn’t just building an audience. The hosts and myself are building community through strategic partnerships. This year saw a standout sponsorship win with Seven Summits Snacks for the Food Fight Friday show, hosted by Adam Lee of Community Trail Running. Meanwhile, Beyond the Finish Line, hosted by Joe Hardin, expanded to 30 powerful episodes that go deeper than performance stats.

These partnerships aren’t just business deals. For me, they are extensions of EAPN’s mission to promote accessibility, representation, and the human side of endurance sports.

A Fresh Take on Storytelling

This anniversary episode also unveiled a big shift: the Run Tri Bike newsletter is now more personal, delivering commentary, behind-the-scenes moments, and thoughtful dives into topics like the psychology of a DNF and the mindset gap between elite and recreational athletes.

It’s a move from content aggregation to my thoughts as I watch the world of endurance sports unfold before my eyes.

The Rise of Morning Cup of Jason

Sometimes all it takes is 30 seconds to shift your mindset. Morning Cup of Jason (on Instagram and Threads), a new series of short daily videos, brings perspective to training, racing, and life. I also try to bring a dose of humor (and a reminder to be quiet for sleeping spouses). It’s another way Run Tri Bike and the Everyday Athlete Podcast Network is making endurance sports feel accessible, relatable, and even fun.

Why Interview Style Matters

Performance stats? Cool. But EAPN is more interested in who you are than how fast you are. My interview style skips the numbers and dives into identity, confidence, self-doubt, recovery, and the messiness of showing up when life throws challenges your way.

That’s why topics like mental health and trauma recovery aren’t one-offs. They are the foundation to how this network tells stories.

Looking Ahead: A Bigger, More Inclusive Vision

Inspired by media networks like Meadowlark Media, EAPN aims to grow into a hub of diverse voices and shows. I want each show to reflect a different side of the endurance athlete experience. Expect more conversations on race anxiety, representation, economic access to sport, and honest explorations of what it means to belong in this space. In addition to that, I want to make sure that we remember to have fun. We talk music and food now but maybe we will include a movie / tv show watching while on the treadmill podcast.
