You Belong at Every Start

See You At Every Start Line | The Everyday Athlete Belongs Here

Drown Out the Noise and Listen to the Cheers

The reason that so many of us coaches and Everyday Athlete Clubhouse members are screaming at the gatekeepers is because we want you to know that you’re welcome here. Don’t listen to them. Let our siren call of encouragement, music, dancing and laughter bring you in.

The Lie of Not Belonging

Social media can be great for selling you the things you’ve only secretly been dreaming about. The algorithms are powerful and you’ll get ads for days for the item you searched for last week. But social media can also be great for showing you the highlight reels of athletes completing exotic races at speeds and locations that you could never dream about. So, you think you don’t belong. But we’re here to tell you otherwise.

You belong at every start line you desire, at every race you train for. You belong in every run group you choose to attend because you’re showing up for yourself and you’re showing up for the community.

The Only Rules That Matter

The only rules we should be discussing for inclusion should be:

  • Do you encourage and support all of the athletes around you?
  • Do you fuel and hydrate your body so that you can participate safely?
  • Do you set yourself up to enjoy the experience rather than treating exercise like a punishment?
  • By setting yourself up for success are you wearing the gear that makes you feel healthy and strong?
  • Can you ask for help when you need it?

I promise you that there are more of us out here waiting and ready to welcome you into the endurance spaces of your choice. When you truly open up and look around, there will be no shortage of everyday athletes and coaches ready to help you have a great time.

Show Up!

Show Out!

You deserve it.

What the Back of the Pack Teaches Us

When I attend races as a back-of-the-pack runner, I am always excited to look around and see the runners around us encouraging and supporting each other. My eyes and ears are open for other athletes who need support, who need assistance and who just need love. My heart if filled by the love, cheers, support and thank you’s shared with athletes and volunteers. You deserve to experience that as well. You deserve your best race experience. No justifications, explanations, clarifiers or rules.

You can do it! We can help!
