Join us for the 11th annual Race the Helix-Greenwood race, inspired by one family's desire to raise awareness for genetic disorders and funding for genetic research! All proceeds benefit the Greenwood Genetic Center Foundation.

Both in-person and virtual events are available this year to protect the health and safety of our runners, families, and volunteers.

In-person race info

• Saturday, October 2 at 9 a.m. at the Greenwood Genetic Center, 106 Gregor Mendel Circle, Greenwood , SC 29646.
• 5K paved run with manual timing (5K course can accommodate strollers and/ or wheelchairs)
• 1 mile paved course for walkers, runners, strollers and wheelchairs
• Pre-packaged snacks and bottled water provided
• T-shirts guaranteed for those who elect to receive a t-shirt and register by September 10.
• For those who register after September 10 and opt for a t-shirt, they are not guaranteed, but will be provided while supplies last.

Virtual race info

• Run or walk from anywhere!
• Complete your race anytime between September 26-October 2. More details will be provided later regarding submitting your times
• Note: If you elect to receive a t-shirt and register by September 10, t-shirts will not be mailed. You will need to pick up your t-shirt at a GGC office.
• For those who register after September 10 and opt for a t-shirt, they are not guaranteed, but will be available for pick-up while supplies last.

Entry fees:

• $25 for In-Person or Virtual 5K
• $20 for In-Person 5K or Virtual 5K Run (no t-shirt)
  • *Please be sure to select "No T-Shirt, thank you" if you are racing virtually and unable to pick up your shirt at a GGC office.
• FREE for the In-Person or Virtual 1 mile walk

Awards:

Awards will be given for the in-person 5K event to the top overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in each 5K age group.
Age groups: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older
