What If Musicians Were Oreos?
Endurance athletes spend a lot of time thinking about nutrition. This is not that.
On the latest episode of What’s In Your Earbuds?, Santino Williams, Joe Hardin and I decided to tackle a far more important question:
If musicians had their own Oreo flavors, what would they taste like?
Yes, this is what happens when you give three grown men microphones and absolutely no adult supervision.
Building The Musician Oreo Menu
The premise was simple. Pick a musician. Create their Oreo.
Bob Marley quickly became a Neapolitan-inspired cookie. Sabrina Carpenter somehow ended up with espresso crème and Pop Rocks. Prince practically created himself: purple wafers with raspberry filling inspired by “Raspberry Beret.”
Some ideas sounded legitimately delicious. Others probably violated several food-safety regulations. But then the Everyday Athlete community got involved.
Musicians submitted by the community became imaginary cookies of their own, including Stevie Nicks, Weird Al Yankovic, Radiohead, Madonna and Kylie Minogue.
And people didn’t just watch. They started debating the flavors, sharing their favorites and eventually creating their own.
That gave us the real point of the episode.

Music Is Better When We Share It
What’s In Your Earbuds? has never really been about telling people what music they should listen to.
It’s about what happens because of music. A song reminds you of somebody. An artist starts an argument. A ridiculous Oreo idea turns into a conversation between people who may otherwise never have talked.
That’s community. And sometimes community tastes like a completely fictional purple Oreo filled with raspberry crème.
Now it’s your turn.
Pick one musician. Create their Oreo.
Give us the musician, cookie and filling.
There are no wrong answers.
Although after recording this episode, we’re no longer entirely convinced that’s true.
