What was less than ideal: There was so much that was "less than Ideal" that I opted not to partake, even after investing the significant entry fee and a lot of time training. The two most egregious are as follows: Just a few weeks before the race, the course was altered to reduce the swimming length and extend the bicycling length. This was terribly unfair to the athletes who were training for the original distances. I figured it would take me less than four minutes to do the swim, less than 20 to do the run, and over an hour to do the bike. Ridiculous, as the legs should be roughly equal in time. The second major problem was the bicycling route was absurd... very dangerous, no shoulder, on a busy road. I was so disappointed by the route, but I opted out in part for my safety.
What I didn't expect: Please see above. Truly disappointed.
Race organization: Very disorganized, as they changed the course and distances of each leg right before the race.
Fuel and aid stations: N/A
Additional info: Please note that this was for the SheTris Triathlon in Huntersville, NC. I will never participate in such an amateur event again. Even the swag was sparse and very cheaply made. What a waste of my time and money.
Overall grade: 1 stars
