More Than Miles That Matter

Everyday Athlete Beyond Metrics | Community Over Performance Run Tri Bike

It’s More Than Miles That Matter

It Started With A Question

What if we’ve been measuring the wrong things all along?

That’s the thought that kept bouncing around my head as I recorded this Fireside Chat episode. Somewhere along the way, endurance sports started to feel like a spreadsheet. Pace. Distance. Heart rate. Repeat.

But the everyday athlete? We were never meant to fit neatly into cells and columns.

I know this because I lived it.

A 5’6” Puerto Rican kid from the Bronx who didn’t see himself in these sports decided to stop waiting for an invitation and build his own table.

Beyond The Splits

Here’s the truth: you are more than your Garmin data.

You’re the runner who also dances. The cyclist who cooks. The triathlete who shows up for their community before they show up for their workout.

And that’s what we’re building with Run Tri Bike and the Everyday Athlete Podcast Network.

Shows like Enduring Minds and Food Fight Friday don’t just talk about performance. We talk about people. Real lives and struggles. Real joy and laughs.

When I am at the dinnfer table and I hear, “Tell me about your VO2 max” I lose interest. Is it important? Maybe. Is it the only thing to talk about? Absolutely not.

But I will want to know, “Who are you?”

Building Something Different

The 2026 Run Club Tour has started isn’t about chasing PRs. It’s about shared miles and shared stories.

With Odd Duck Running and Hustle in the Heartland, we’re creating spaces where first-timers, adaptive athletes, and seasoned runners all belong. Same course. Same energy and celebration of the athlete.

No gatekeeping. No judgment.

Just community.

The Only Metric That Matters

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

People over performance.

Every single time.

Because the finish line? It’s temporary.

But the connections we build along the way…..that’s the real endurance sport.

So if you’ve ever wondered where you fit in…

You’re already in.

Welcome to the community.
