Stop Saying Just Ran Again

Stop Saying “Just Ran” | Everyday Athlete Stories Matter Run Tri Bike

I’m sitting in Paris at 11:30 PM, fighting sleep harder than the last mile of a marathon, and I keep thinking… this couldn’t wait.

Because this is what Shoutout Nation is all about. These episodes are about reminding you that the starting line has room for everybody and every body.

Why “Just Ran” Needs to Go

Somewhere along the way, we started shrinking our accomplishments.

“I just ran a 5K.”
“I just showed up.”

No. Hard stop.

You didn’t “just” do anything. You made a choice and showed up anyway. That matters.

The Everyday Athletes Who Proved It

This week, I had the privilege of spotlighting three humans who embody what this community should feel like.

Jeanette, nominated by Ryan Reynolds, is the kind of positive force you can’t fake. She lifts people up like it’s part of her daily warm-up.

Laura? She flipped the script. Usually cheering others on, she stepped into the spotlight after finishing her first ultramarathon and enjoyed doing it. Let that sink in.

And Leah… she delivered the gut punch we all needed. Fuel your body. Respect your journey. Stop downplaying your wins.

Connection Over Comparison

Here’s the truth that I keep coming back to: this sport isn’t about proving you belong.

You already do.

Our sports are about connection and honesty. They are about laughing at yourself mid-run and still crossing the finish line anyway.

That’s The Everyday Athlete Style. That’s us.

Say It Louder

So the next time you finish a workout, a race, or just get out the door…

Don’t whisper it.

Own it.

Because there’s no such thing as “just” anything when you’re an everyday athlete.
