Run the Wicked Bottom – Register for the 5K!

Please note the Department is hopeful to be able to operate the Wicked Bottom with limited to no modification depending on the status of COVID-19 guidelines / restrictions at the time of the event. However, depending on those guidelines / restrictions come April 2021 is when a final decision will be made regarding this event. If necessary, it will be operated in a virtual format.

Come on out for the 12th Annual Wicked Bottom 5K .

This Cross Country run starts from the scenic grounds of Lenn Park. The course circles the northern side of the park then crosses over to Old House Vineyards where you will pass the rows of vines while following the gravel road, then return to Lenn Park where you will follow the gravel trail that winds along the border of the park property in view of Mountain Run Creek. The course is fairly level with only a few short hills and with luck, you may catch a glimpse of wildlife.

Event is electronically timed by Commonwealth Timing and awards will be provided to the overall male/female finishers, and to 1st – 3rd place finishers in 11 different age groups of: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, and NEW 65+. All results will be posted online after the event.

All participants of the 5K will receive a finishers medal this year!

Don’t forget the kids! A 1/2-mile fun run will be held prior to the start of the 5K. [use keyword “Wicked” to register for the 1/2 mile fun run]

***Moms / Dads, want to run in the 5K? There will be kid-approved activities on site while you run, hosted by KidCentral. (Minimum age 3yrs to be left with KidCentral)**** please note – this may or may not be available depending on CDC guidelines at the time of the event.

Also, after your run, Old House Vineyards will be providing a complimentary glass of wine or pint of beer. (free for participants ages 21 & over).

EVENT IS CAPPED AT 275 PARTICIPANTS FOR THE 5K!


Event T-shirts (short sleeve moisture wicking shirts)

ONLY those registered by 4/9/21 (phone / in person) or by 4/11/21 (online) will receive an event t-shirt. Anyone registering after 4/11/21 will not be eligible to receive a shirt.


After the 5K, participants can relax with:

PARKING & Registration Check in

Event Parking & Registration Check-In will be held at Lenn Park, 19206 Edwin Way, Culpeper.

Registration Check In & Packet Pick up will be held inside the Picnic Pavilion at Lenn Park starting at 6:00am-8:00am


Day of Event Registration

If the event is not sold out, day of event registration will be at Lenn Park Pavilion from 6:00am-8:00am.

Dogs:

Dogs are allowed to participate in the 5K – PROVIDED they are on a static leash 6ft. or shorter [no flexies/extendable leashes] and must be under the handlers control at all times, must be wearing their county license tag and rabies tag. Handlers must clean up after their dog (even while running) and deposit bagged feces in a trash receptacle. Any dog showing any aggression can/will be asked to leave, no refund will be given to the handler if they are a participant in the 5K. Any female dog in-season (estrus) is not allowed on site.

Dogs are permitted at Old House Vineyards, however anyone who plans on bringing their dog must be respectful of Old House’s grounds and keep their dogs with them on a leash in the grassy picnic area outback. Dogs will not be allowed inside any of the buildings. (you cannot leave your dog tied up outside). However, if the weather is nice Old House will have the outside bar open and people can taste with their dogs on one side of the outdoor bar.


REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Pre-event Registration closes on Sunday, April 25th.

No registrations will be process Monday, April 26th – Friday, April 30th.

Day of Event Registration will open at 6:00am on Saturday, May 1st with a $5.00 price increase.

Cash or Checks only. No Credit Cards will be accepted on May 1st, 2021.


Saturday, May 1st – schedule of events

Day of Registration Opens: 6:00am (if not sold out)

1/2 mile Fun Run Starts: 8:00am (registration closes at 7:45am)

5K Start: 5 minutes after the finish of the 1/2 mile fun run – approximately 8:30am (registration closes at 8:00am)

Door prizes start: 9:45am

Medal Presentation & Prizes awarded at: 10:00am

(refunds will not be processed after April 11th, refunds must be requested in writing)

FAQ’s & Important Information

***Address: Lenn Park address is 19206 Edwin Way, Culpeper VA.

***Refunds will not be processed after 4/11/21.

***Packet pick up is at Lenn Park Pavilion on Saturday May 1st from 6:00am – 8:00am.

***this is a “cross country course” in that you will be running on gravel trails mainly, some grassed areas, and a small portion of paved roads. Some areas of the gravel trails can get a bit marshy if we have had a lot of rain recently, so it is a good idea to bring a change of shoes.

***Event is held rain or shine. It will only be canceled in case of sever weather (lightening/thunderstorms)

***headphones/ear-buds are permitted except when crossing the paved road.

***jogging strollers are permitted

***Dogs will be permitted on the course – maximum of a 6′ leash – no flexi or extendable leashes – see note above about dogs at Old House Vineyards.


Pre-event registrations will be accepted only until Sunday, April 25th, 2021.


No registrations will be accepted 4/26-4/30.
