The Reindeer Run, presented by Half-Moon Outfitters, is a family-oriented, pet-friendly 5k run/walk located in downtown Charleston, SC. This year we celebrate our 30th year of the annual race! Our #1 priority is the health and safety of our volunteers, participants, and committee members. This year's number of participants will be reduced. Runners can choose to participate in-person or virtually. We are looking to celebrating this milestone year with you all!

The event has grown significantly over the years; from only a few hundred participants to record attendance of over 3,500 runners. The funds generated from the Reindeer Run benefits the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital located in downtown Charleston. (moved sentences around a bit) Throughout the history of the event, the Charitable Society of Charleston (CSC) has donated over $1,000,000. This hospital provides more spacious, family-centered amenities and expanded services, including an expanded neonatal intensive care unit, an entire floor dedicated to the care of children with cancer, and the most comprehensive pediatric heart center in South Carolina.

Proceeds from the Reindeer Run are split between the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and the Charitable Society of Charleston. 80% of the funds go to MUSC and 20% go to the Charitable Society of Charleston’s endowment. This endowment provides grants and donations to local non-profit organizations which benefit both children and elderly residents of the Lowcountry.

We're bringing back a crowd favorite, the costume contest! So be sure to dress up in your festive best for the race!

Our categories will once again include: Adult Individual, Child Individual, Group and Dog. We award the top 3 from each category with lots of great prizes and gift cards from restaurants and attractions around the Charleston area. You do not want to miss out on all the fun!

The 2021 Virtual Reindeer Run will run December 1st through December 10th! The entry fee is $25 for adults and $15 for children, runners and walkers can participate in the virtual run as well as the costume contest. Included with entry fee will be a race t-shirt and everyone's favorite antler ears.
