Portland Kids Duathlon

When: July 25, 2021
Where: Portland, ME
Race type(s): Triathlon

THIS RACE IS VIRTUAL ONLY FOR 2020 AND OPEN TO KIDS OF ALL AGES

After trying to find a new date and reviewing the current and proposed guidelines for events, we have decided that it will be safer for our athletes, families, and volunteers if we move to a virtual race. But that doesn’t mean, we can’t still have a great event! Our goals for this race have always been to get kids active and outdoors, inspire families to get fit together and support our local schools. We can still do that in 2020! Just like in person, all participants get a shirt, medal, swag, and a chance to win a brand new bike.

Virtual Race Details

  • What does it cost? $25
  • Who can participate? Kids of any age!
  • What do you get? #alltheswag! We’ll be shipping medals, bibs, t-shirts and swag ahead of the race period so families can create a closer to “real” race experience together.
  • When will it be held? Complete your race between July 26th and August 9th and then submit a photo and/or video that we’ll include in a post-race video. Send to racedirector@portlandkidsduathlon.com. For larger files, we’ll provide a link to upload when we get closer to the race period.
  • Help raise more money for our Portland teachers, students, and families! All virtual registrations can have a fundraising page. This is a great way to get your friends and family involved and teach your child about giving back. This will be optional. There will be prizes for our top fundraisers.

Our race beneficiary needs your support more than ever! As you know, 100% of the proceeds of this race are donated to the Foundation for the Portland Public Schools. The money raised will be split among four critical funds to support students and educators during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. These include (1) teacher grants to help educators reinvent their curriculum and find creative ways to engage students in learning, (2) extended learning for economically disadvantaged students who lack access to virtual learning, (3) reducing food insecurity, providing no-cost meals for students and their families, and (4) allowing school staff to provide urgent support to families in crisis to help pay for essentials like rent, internet access, and medical costs.

About the Race

Portland’s first multisport race for children, The Portland Kids Duathlon, is presented by Benchmark Real Estate. The race gives young people ages 3-12 an opportunity to participate in the fast-growing world of multi-sport racing. The run, bike, run format of a duathlon is fun and approachable, a great race for non-swimmers and triathletes alike. All young duathletes will finish the race with a smile on their face, a medal around their neck, and a boost of self-confidence and pride. All profits from this race will be donated to the Foundation for Portland Public Schools.
