The Pete Frates 5K honors the late Pete Frates, who was internationally recognized as an advocate for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) awareness and education. Prior to succumbing to ALS, Pete successfully helped raise $225 million globally to #strikeoutals through the ice bucket challenge.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2022 Pete Frates 5K! We are happy to announce that the date is set for the 2023 race: Sunday, November 5th. We hope to see you all there! All proceeds from this year’s race will be given to the Mass General ALS House Call Program at the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS, which helps to change the course of medical care planning and improve outcomes for people with ALS by bringing patient care into the home.
Their teams visit patients and caregivers in the comfort of their homes with the goal of improving patient care while reducing the burden of accessibility. They carefully coordinate care and design home visit schedules to integrate seamlessly with the care provided at the ALS Multidisciplinary Clinic at Mass General. The ALS House Call Program draws from the best of their existing approaches, their aspirations for novel patient-centered care delivery, and their fundamental belief that the bedrock of clinical care is human connection.
We invite you to run, walk, or wheel the race:
Date: Sunday, November 5th
