Save the Date – February 6, 2022
We are still working the exact details with the town and school for how to hold an IN-PERSON event for 2022, but barring any changes between now and February we will be holding the race in person on February 6, 2022. We will also hold an official #MWCinTheWild Virtual Option as well.
Watch your email and the website for updates and details. Here is some preliminary information so you can mark your calendars:
Race Day and Virtual Option
The 2022 Mid-Winter 10 Mile Classic will be race #1 for the 2022 Maine Track Club Grand Prix series. Points will be awarded based on performance at each MTC race, and prizes and bragging rights will be given out at the end of the year at the Annual Banquet.
The gun will fire on Sunday, February 6th, 2022 at 9:45 a.m. The start and finish lines are at Cape Elizabeth High School at 345 Ocean House Rd.
We will also have a virtual racing option for the week leading up to the race, where you can run 10 outdoor miles at any time from January 31 through February 6th, 2022. You must report your run by 11:59pm on February 6th.
You may run both the virtual and in person options for the race, but you may not count the in person race as your virtual result. They must be run separately.
Registration
Registration will in 2 waves again this year, though we are pushing it back a couple weeks later than usual. On Saturday, December 4th at 1:00pm, we will be opening 100 spots for Maine Track Club members only. You must be a member in good standing through race day by Thursday evening, December 2nd, at 6:00pm in order to be able to register early. (Click here to check your registration status.)
Public registration for an additional 700 bibs will open at 7:00 a.m. on the following Monday, December 6th.
If you want to run the virtual #MWCinTheWild option, you can register up through the start of the in-person race on February 6th at 9:45am.
Registration will cost $25 for the in person race and $10 for the virtual race, with proceeds benefiting the Maine Track Club and local high school running teams (based on runner and volunteer zip codes.) We will have long sleeve shirts available for an additional $15 if you would like to purchase one at registration.
COVID-19
Exact COVID-19 protocols will be announced before race day. If you plan on running or volunteering in person on race day, then expect proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours to be required at packet pickup.
Wait List
If the race sells out prior to December 15, then we will open a wait list. We are not planning on having a bib transfer period for the race, but depending upon the status of the pandemic and the weather in January we may make additional bibs available past our cap.
Packet Pickup
Details will be shared closer to race weekend.
