IDEA El Paso Public School's Healthy Kids Here program recognizes that the roots of academic success for our students run far deeper than classroom learning alone. IDEA started Healthy Kids Here seven years ago with the goal of becoming the healthiest district in the country. As part of our mission to become the Healthiest District in America, IDEA El Paso Public Schools hosts the 1st Annual Healthy Kids Here 5K Run | 1K Walk to engage the El Paso community in a family-friendly and educational opportunity which encourages families to be active.

Frankie Gray, executive director for IDEA El Paso Public Schools says, “IDEA believes that in order for students to get to and through college and beyond, they also need a foundation of knowledge and skills necessary to maintain their health. As always, we don't do what's easiest for adults; we do what's best for kids."

Proceeds support the areas of greatest need for IDEA scholars in the El Paso Region.

Your Race Details

• Race day is Saturday, May 7, 2022, 8:30 am at Ascarate Park. Parking is free.

• The 5K Race is competitive and starts at 8:30 am. Placement trophies will be awarded.

• The 1K Walk is non-competitive and starts at 8:30 am.

• Largest Community Team Trophy | Largest IDEA Team & Family Trophy

• Best Dressed Community Team Trophy | Best Dressed Team & Family Trophy

• Every person receives a Finisher Medal.
