RACE DESCRIPTION
The race will take place at Fontainebleau lake beach. You (runner) will be challenged by a 20 minute race on a short course featuring a mixed terrain such as; grass, and sand. You will go through a hurdle section that will test your agility. You will race in your respective category which is divided by your 5k personal best pace. We use honor code, hoping you will be honest with your pace so that everyone can have the best racing experience possible.
COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS
We are aware we are going through a World health-crisis for that reason we will have the necessary precautions to ensure everyone’s safety. The measures are as follows:
Our athlete briefing will be virtual, meaning it will be recorded and sent to all our athletes on race week in order to avoid the accumulation of people.
Runners and spectators are encouraged to wear a mask during packet pickup, before the race starts, after the race and during the award ceremony.
RUNNING COURSE
RACE MAP
The running course begins on your right hand side facing the parking lot on your left hand of the pond, you will go around the pond, passing next to the splash pad, the pond will now be on your left hand side where you will be challenged by a hurdle section before you enter the beach area, make a U turn then continue along the beach, lake pontchartrain will be now on your right hand side, make a sharp left to go straight to the finish/start line.
FONTAINEBLEAU STATE PARK ACCESS
There is a $3 fee per person to enter the park, please bring cash with you.
CATEGORIES
Your category is based on your fastest 5 k pace and it’s broken down as follows:
Category 1 Male and Female – 5 min per mile to 5:59 min per mile or faster.
Category 2 Male and Female – 6 min per mile to 6:59 min per mile.
Category 3 Male and Female – 7 min per mile to 7:59 min per mile.
Category 4 Male and Female – 8 min per mile to 8:59 min per mile.
Category 5 Male and Female – 9 min per mile to 9:59 min per mile.
Category 6 Male and Female – 10 min per mile to 10:59 min per mile.
Category 7 Male and Female – 11 min per mile to 11:59 min per mile.
Category 8 Male and Female – 12 min per mile to 12:59 min per mile.
AWARD CEREMONY
We will award first, second and third place in each category.
We will be giving hand made medals to the winners. Awards will take place immediately after each race ends.
FUELING STATION
There will be a fueling station before you get to the finish line on the right hand side. There will be water and isotonic beverages for participants to enjoy during the races.
RACING RULES
Stay on the right side, except to pass.
You must race in the category you signed up for unless you change it prior to the race no later than 2 days before the event.
After the 20 mins is up you will do a final lap.
If you are lapped by the top runner you must abandon the course. You will still receive a medal.
The course will have a hurdle section such as planks, logs, or tape, etc…which are about 15 inches tall or less, runners can hop or walk over them.
Runners must use only their own hydration and nutrition or the one provided by the race in the designated fueling area. No outside fueling allowed.
No littering, carry your trash and dispose of it in the designated garbage cans.
The use of sharp objects is forbidden. Including the use of running cleats.
From 5 minutes before the start of each race the course must be clear.
Crossing the course is only allowed at designated crossing points ( if any ) for spectators on the course. Each crossing point will have 2 one-way lanes.
The use of headphones is not allowed.
No pets allowed on the course, but they can be spectators as long as they’re on the leash.
No pacers, strollers or spectators allowed inside the course.
No aggressive language or behavior will be tolerated.
No pushing, grabbing or intentional physical contact allowed.
If you decide to abandon the race for any reason please notify the staff immediately.
It’s your responsibility to make sure you’re physically able to do this race, check with your doctor if you have any health concerns.

INFORMATION BEFORE THE RACE
Packet Pickup:
Packet pick up will be the day prior from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Mandeville, LA
Picking up your packet is personal, bring your ID and proof of registration confirmation. If you’re picking up someone else’s packet, bring a copy of their ID along with a letter signed by them acknowledging you’re picking up their package (no exceptions).
Arrive at least 30 mins before your race starts to give you enough time to prepare for your race.
