Baxter Trail Club 10th Annual New Year's Day Trail Gnome Run

Jan. 1, 2021

Kicking off the New Year with a healthy start! Now in our 10th year, our little community event has become one of the most anticipate trail event we host. Finding an additional kilometer every year has been a fun but increasingly difficult challenge. So with our 10th Anniversary we've decided to set the long run at 10-miles. Enjoy a 5k trail run with family and friends, or really test yourself on our 10 mile route.

7:30 a.m. 10-mile Ruck start time

10:00 a.m. 10-mile Run start time (staggered starts, 15 runners, 5 minutes apart)

10:45 a.m. 5K Run start time (staggered starts, 15 runners, 5 minutes apart)

We are planning to host the event in real time but with a number of Covid related changes. To be in line with current state guidelines, this year's event will be capped at 220 total registrants. You must have registered by midnight on Sunday 12/13/2020 to receive a shirt or hat! There are no youth size shirts again this year.

Please note these important changes due to the concerns for everybody's health:

  1. Masks should be worn until you start your race;
  2. No post-run food or beverage will be served this year;
  3. No aid stations or water will be provided this year – bring your supply for pre and post race;
  4. There will be no awards for age bracket winners. Instead, every participant will receive a special commemorative glass;
  5. Participants should leave the commons area once everyone in their group has completed the race.

The Start/Finish Location will be on the Baxter Village Green. Registration fee includes the race, music, a t-shirt (or beanie), and hopefully some giveaways.

Registration fees are: $20.00 until October 31, then; $25.00 until November 30, then; $30.00 until race day.

There is no charge for children 10 and under participation with a paid parent or guardian. 4-legged family members are welcome too but they must be on a leash.

This event is a fundraiser for the Baxter Trail Club. Proceeds will go towards the club's activities including the hosting of community events including trail work days, group hikes, full moon fires, and general club administration. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Your tax deductible donations are welcomed!

Volunteers are needed to assist at street crossings, trail intersections, bike patrol of trails, photography, etc. Anyone interested in volunteering should please reach out directly to 2021 Volunteer signup.
