We are excited to announce the 2021 Trailbreaker is on! We will offer a half marathon, 10K and 5K race this year. We do not anticipate being able to acquire the necessary permits for the marathon and will work to bring it back in 2022.

How to Complete Your Deferral from 2020

Your race entry has already been deferred, but you need to claim your deferral if you want to run this year. Here is how to do it:

1. Go to runsignup.com.
2. Click on Profile.
3. Under the Deferrals tab, click Complete Deferral.
4. Click Start Transfer.

Detailed instructions and screenshots are available under "How to Claim a Deferred Registration". You can scroll past the first half of the page because it explains how to defer a race, but your registration has already been deferred; all you need to do is claim it!

If you plan on running this year, we ask that you claim your deferral by Sunday, February 28th. Your spot in the 2021 Trailbreaker race is guaranteed through Sunday, February 28th. This year the races have registration caps on them. If you wait until after February 28th, registration for your event may be full.

If you want to defer to 2022, do nothing! You will be able to use the same process next year.

If you registered for the marathon in 2020 and want to run the half marathon for 2021, follow the instructions above. In 2022, you will receive a $22.00 credit to use on registration for any 2022 Trailbreaker event.

This will be a socially distanced race using our approved social distancing plan. Please review the plan prior to registering for the event.

About the Trailbreaker

The Trailbreaker is Waukesha's home grown running event and has been held annually since 1993. This Waukesha tradition initially consisted of a Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 5K Run/Walk. The Trailbreaker originally was the brainchild of three running colleagues (amigos). Since 2009, the Park Foundation of Waukesha, Inc. (PFW Inc.), has organized and hosted this annual event as a fundraiser for the enhancement of city parks, trails, recreation programs and the urban forest.

Over $200,000 has been generated and re-invested with the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department to "make Waukesha a better place to live, work and play". The PFW Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization that utilizes funds raised to promote "Community Quality of Life". All staff are unpaid volunteers. Please consider making a donation!

This event provides distances for all runners! Come join the fun and support our local parks and community!

Please note, we will not be able to exchange shirt sizes and shirts will not be sold. Shirts are unisex and tend to run large.
